PROGRAMS WITH A PURPOSE

We understand the connection between playing and learning. That is why all of   the programs at YMCA Camp Ingersoll are designed to encourage children to   make new friends, learn new skills and spend time with counselors who model   the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. In  addition, our goal is  to ensure that all campers have an opportunity to:

  • Develop self-confidence, self-respect, and learn to accept and   appreciate their own worth as individuals.
  • Grow as responsible members of their families and citizens of   their communities.
  • Form good habits of health and physical fitness; appreciate that   health of mind and body is a gift and that physical fitness and   mental well-being are conditions to be achieved and maintained.
  • Recognize the worth of all persons and work for interracial,   intergender and intergroup understanding.
  • Develop a sense of world-mindedness and work for worldwide   understanding.
  • Develop their capacities for leadership and use them   responsibly   in their own groups and in community life.
  • Develop an interest in, a knowledge of, and respect for the   natural world, and work for its conservation.

What Parents Say About YMCA Camp Ingersoll

(taken from 2009 family surveys)

  • It was my children's first time at summer camp and they LOVED it!
  • My son has already decided what camp activity he wants to do next year and reminded me to sign up early.
  • My child made tremendous strides with swimming and became very self confident, especially after the first week!
  • My daughter loves YMCA Camp Ingersoll and made new friends  with positive role models.
  • There is a strong importance on positive values and fun at this camp and that is a big reason why I wanted him to come here.
  • We loved attending Family Nights and meeting all of the counselors.  They were all so friendly and enthusiastic and you could tell they loved the campers and were excited to see them.
